Vintage Knits - Victorian Patterns

Tori has disappeared into the internet archive at  the University of Southampton and has found a collection of interesting patterns and articles from the Victorian era. They aren't easy to follow but well worth a look and they also have lots of stitch patterns and techniques.

She has knitted up this baby bootie from one of the patterns in The lady's knitting-book by Elvira M Corboud published in 1891.

Tori has knitted them in 4ply though the pattern may have originally used a finer yarn. They are beautiful!

There is also The Ladies Book of Crochet too. The patterns range in thickness of yarn too from fine to chunky.

This is a link to the Ladies Knitting Book and from there you can search and browse other patterns.
