New Yarn, New Craft - Macramé

Macramé Plant Hanger

We had an exciting delivery in both shops last week of the new range from James C Brett, 'ReTwisst'. I really wanted to try out the Macramé range so brought home a ball of the Macrame Rope (3mm).

Normally when I am learning something new I like to learn the basics and then have a go at a project. Not today! I decided that Mary and I would follow a YouTube Video and learn as we go. I did a quick google search and found an amazing video and tutorial at FTD.com

I was in a bit of a hurry to get started so did not take a picture of the rope until I had already measured and cut the lenths for our projects.

Don't worry they weren't all tangled!

Each pot hanger took 7.6 metres to make. I do have lots of scraps left over.

Not doing too badly so far if I do say so myself! With the loop knot and square section complete we were ready to move onto the spiral section.

The arms were beginning to ache at this point.......

Finished!

So pleased with these. Of course there are some mistakes and we only really to grips with the spiral section after the last section. I also had to undo mine as I had knotted the wrong sections together towards the base but still really enjoyed making this.

The Knots used were

  • Loop Knot
  • Square Knot
  • Half Square or Spiral Knot
